FHWA's Community Impact Assessment: A Quick Reference for Transportation is a handbook designed to provide information on how to conduct a community impact assessment in order to evaluate the effects of a transportation action on a community and its quality of life. The handbook is intended to help state DOTs, MPOs and other agencies or individuals involved in the project development process understand the possible approaches, data sources, and step-by-step procedures for conducting a community impact assessment.

This update of the original 1996 publication "Community Impact Assessment: A Quick Reference for Transportation" has also been designed to reflect the growing importance of technology and an enhanced focus on the human environment.

Community Recovery Management Toolkit

Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Community Recovery Management Toolkit contains guidance, case studies, tools, and training to assist local communities in managing long-term recovery post-disaster. The toolkit includes information on effective coordination of recovery resources to State, Tribal, Territorial, and Local incidents, and funding and technical assistance to support post-disaster local planning and management.

March 2, 2020 is the date that National RTAP Resource Center staff last captured for the toolkit's update date; the toolkit is updated regularly and may have been updated since then.
