Translating Limited English Proficiency into Practice

Produced by the US Department of Justice (US DOJ), Translating Limited English Proficiency into Practice presents the importance of Title VI of Civil Rights Act, and how to avoid discriminating against those who do not speak English. Limited English Proficient individuals are those who have a limited ability to speak, read, write or understand English, and it is against the law for recipients of federal funds to discriminate against LEP individuals. In addition, recipients of federal funds must provide LEP individuals “meaningful access” to their services.   This video explains what “meaningful access” is.
